Although circumcision is a medical procedure, it has always been a debatable topic among people. The circumcision practice involves removing the foreskin of the penis, which has been performed for more than several centuries. If it had been a harmful or useless act, it would have been stopped by now. The fact that doctors validate it as a medical necessity is sufficient to stop the myths surrounding it. Common myths about circumcision

There are several myths surrounding circumcision which are mentioned below.

    • It reduces a man’s ability to impregnate a woman.

Many people believe the myth that getting circumcised can hamper their sexual life. But in reality, it enhances the sexual adventure for both partners and has no harm to the man’s ability to impregnate a woman. Eliminating the foreskin allows men to maintain their moments of intimacy for a prolonged time.

    • It is endorsed for aesthetic purposes.

Circumcision is not done for aesthetic reasons but is necessary for many males. Men who suffer from infections and problems related to the foreskin require to have circumcision to eliminate the problem.

    Some common problems are:

    • Phimosis– A condition where the penis’ foreskin becomes too compressed to retract over the glans penis. Doctors recommend this circumcision for laser phimosis treatment.
    • Paraphimosis– In this condition, the foreskin gets stuck in the glans penis and can cause swelling. This mainly impacts the flow of blood to the penis. The immediate paraphimosis treatment for this medical condition is circumcision.
    • Balanitis– It is a condition where inflammation occurs on the glans penis causing pain and discomfort.
    • It is hard to maintain the hygiene of a circumcised penis.

Maintaining the hygiene of a circumcised penis is a lot easier than an uncircumcised penis. There is a high chance of building up bacteria and dirt under the foreskin of the uncircumcised penis. This results in increasing the odds of contracting urinary tract infections. It is easier to clean a circumcised penis and avoid catching various infections.

    • Circumcision is a minimally invasive and complex procedure.

Due to the advancing medical field, the procedures of circumcision are now a modern-age treatment. Modern circumcision uses laser technology to ensure no stitches, wounds, or significant cuts in the procedure. Hence the patient will have a speedy recovery.

    • It cures HIV AIDS

Circumcision does not cure AIDS, but it reduces the possibility of transmission of HIV AIDS. Not just HIV AIDS, it also lowers the risk of other STDs like syphilis, penile cancer, or gonorrhea.
